Our Product Design team are on a mission to make buying and selling cars an easy and straightforward process. They play a key role in making this happen for the millions of consumers and thousands of retailers that use our web and mobile applications and sites each month. As a User Experience Apprentice, you will complete a degree apprenticeship in BSc (Hons) Digital User Experience (UX) with Manchester Metropolitan University. Throughout the four-year programme, you will attend blocks of learning at university and develop your skills on the job working as part of a Product Design team. You'll be working with other designers, product managers, engineers, and researchers to help guide our products through discovery (learning about user problems) and iterative delivery (designing and testing solutions). Part of your role will involve helping to facilitate and participate in design workshops and designing, prototyping and testing ideas with your team and in more formal testing environments. Working alongside the rest of your team, you'll have opportunities to input to decision making throughout the product lifecycle – learning when and where design thinking and design craft are needed and how to communicate the value of each. Through studying, on the job learning, and as you gain confidence, you'll play a role in influencing, persuading, and evangelising our design system and user experience design within your product team. We are a data-driven company at heart, so you'll be developing skills in making decisions at the right time – learning when to seek out and use qualitative or quantitative data and how to use your growing knowledge and experience. Our work requires us to be flexible, so you'll switch from high level, big picture thinking to the detail of user stories and UI designs. - What we're looking for - You have a minimum of 104 UCAS points. This could be gained from A-Levels, or other higher education qualifications; you can calculate your UCAS points - You currently hold a level 2 in English and mathematics or GCSE at grade 4 (C) or above. - An appreciation of end-to-end UX design - including understanding problems, using research, prototyping, designing, and testing. - Some exposure to interaction design work, sketches, storyboards, prototypes, and visual design. We would be interested in seeing any examples you have of experimenting with these things. - Good written and verbal communication and listening skills - The ability to take in multiple sources of information, analyse and organise them, and draw conclusions Although not a requirement, helpful knowledge or experience includes: - An appreciation of front-end development technologies for the web or mobile apps - Knowledge of human psychology - Graphic design knowledge or experience The Degree Apprenticeship lasts four years, so it requires dedication, a love of learning and a genuine aim to succeed. Benefits and more We're offering a starting salary of £19,000 and a flexible benefits package to support your health and well-being. You'll have 28 days holiday per year, and that's in addition to bank holidays and half day closures on Christmas and New Year's Eve.
