Our Magnet Technology factory in Eynsham, Oxford, is at the forefront of manufacturing high-tech medical imaging equipment used by healthcare professionals worldwide - 30% of MRI systems around the world contain our superconducting magnets at the heart. As we plan for our move to our new factory, the R&D team have an important role to play in equipping us for the future. This 12-month internship placement will provide you with the opportunity to support and develop the design and manufacture of our superconducting magnets, and a chance to make a meaningful contribution to our team. We are looking for students with an Engineering or Scientific background who want to take on real responsibility during their year in industry, and who want to take advantage of a structured Intern Development Programme. As an Intern in our R&D team, you can expect to: Work as a member of one of our teams within the R&D department to support and develop the design and manufacture of superconducting magnets. Our Engineering teams cover: Electromagnetics Cryogenics Mechanical Structures Computer Aided Design and Engineering (CAD/CAE) Electronics Design and Embedded Software Software Development and Data Analytics Project Management Quality and Process Engineering Work independently on projects to improve current designs and processes. Carrying out design work, conducting experiments, analysing results and reporting on conclusions, both in written reports and verbally in meetings. Support production on the factory floor and the customer support team. Participate in our 12 month Intern development programme teaching softer skills such as communication, teamwork, and commercial awareness alongside the role. Who are we looking for? Currently studying a degree in Engineering, Scientific or related subject, and looking for a 12 month placement as part of your degree programme. Strong analytical skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Good problem solving and reasoning skills, and an aptitude for learning new skills.
