Hourly PA /Carer / Graduate / Support Worker to Second Year Business Studies Student Reading University About our client Our client is a Second year Business Studies student studying her degree at Reading University. She has a diagnosis of SMA type 3 (Spinal Muscular Atrophy) and is a full-time wheelchair user. Her many hobbies include being Creative, Socialising with Friends and Learning. The client leads a very active social life by meeting up with friends and family. With a joyful and delightful persona, our client describes herself as outgoing and conscientious. About our client, as written by her I have a bubbly and outgoing personality and am quite a social person who likes to be included and integrated into normal society as best as possible. This means that I am quite specific on the way I am supported as I try to maintain the best faade of normality. I am a very conscientious individual and this means I will likely require help for hobbies and supporting my education too. I also really enjoy being creative, and often need support moving and setting up different workspaces. It is important my PAs are able to do my hair so experience with straighteners/Curlers and Plaits is essential. This role has very minimal medical or personal care, and mostly includes helping me with things like cooking, cleaning, daily chores such as washing clothes etc. Other things might include attending lectures with me, helping me get to places on the bus etc, and helping me with physical tasks for my small business. You dont need to have any previous experience with care or disability as I am cognitively unaffected by my condition, and I am therefore able to talk you through any tasks you may feel unsure on. But it is rare that you would encounter something you havent already dealt with in your own life (if you can look after yourself, you can help look after me). The only requirement is that you have a good level of common sense, a willingness to learn and to follow basic procedures to keep me safe, and typical life skills, such as how to cook and clean. This is also a, flat mate type of role which goes far beyond simply care work, and includes all the fun things you'd expect a first-year university student to be doing , like getting out and about to see friends, going to parties, the cinema, going on holiday and much more Start Date:ASAP Working: 12 hour shifts 36hrs/48hrs per week (3 Shifts one week // 4 shifts the other) Pay: £12 per hour Location: Reading Care experience is not required as full training in our client's particular requirements will be provided. 5.6 week's holiday pro rata. About You You are unlikely to have experience in every aspect of our client's care therefore full training in her particular needs is provided.
