In London, our new UK head office in Shoreditch is a mixed-use development with half an acre of public piazza and events space dedicated to retail, including cafés and restaurants offering alfresco dining. This is our Development Centre, which primarily focuses on research and development for Amazon’s global Prime Video service.
Our continued investment in employee facilities is part of Amazon’s long-term commitment to the UK, having invested £6.4 billion here since 2010 and, moving forward, pledging to create 5,000 new jobs over the coming years to reach 24,000 permanent employees across the country.

Giving back to communities
We believe the excitement of reading should be shared by everyone. That's why we donate devices—we love igniting that excitement of reading among pupils.
Our Device Donation Programme takes place in schools across Europe and around the world. We bring devices to students and provide schools with gift cards to purchase content. Often we donate to school districts near our fulfilment centres—a way to give back on behalf of our employees.
