Life at Kier Group for graduates

Kier relies on the latest technology, the brightest people and close collaboration to deliver advanced solutions in diverse fields.

We help businesses achieve improved results, reduced costs and streamlined services. With proven expertise in building and civil engineering, support services, public and private house building, property development and structured property financing, we are a partner you can trust and someone you can build a great career with.

Who we are

Kier Group plc is a leading property, residential, construction and services group which invests in, builds, maintains and renews the places where we work, live and play. We operate across a range of sectors including defence, education, housing, industrials, power, transport and utilities.

Headquartered in Bedfordshire, UK, we have ventures around the work, with over 20,000 employees.

Careers with us

Together, we make the world work better. Not only do we provide a challenging environment for our people to exercise their skills, but we invest in their professional and personal development as well as creating a rewards and benefits package that demonstrates our loyalty to our team.

Cultivating the next generation of talent is also vital to our success. Instead of waiting for young people to learn the skills we want, we strive to provide those opportunities, with schemes like trade apprenticeships and the Construction Team Leader programme.

New employees at Kier are offered a structured approach to learning and development - with recent years seeing more than 1,700 employees starting such initiatives.

Graduate programme

We provide the best foundation for your career with us. All graduates who join Kier follow our Graduate Development Programme (GDP). This structured three-year programme will:

  • Support you in progressing in your chosen career, and give you the tools and experience to qualify for membership of your chosen professional body.

  • You'll be supported in your day to day work by an on-the-job line manager, while an experienced 'professional body mentor' will help you develop clear goals, expand your skills and work towards chartership of your relevant professional body. Progress will be assessed during six-monthly reviews.

  • Once you've completed the three-year programme you'll continue to receive ongoing support from your mentor and the GDP team to complete your chartership.
